Innovation for Wellbeing Foundation has worked with multiple schools to train teachers on Mental Health First Aid to provide support to the students and coworkers. We have also organized awareness raising sessions with the students to educate them on common mental health issues and teach them the importance of wellbeing.
The school mental health activity is designed for two specific target groups. The MHFA training for teachers are in depth 2-day course that delivers the full module specially designed for school teachers. This module helps the teachers learn about common mental health issues such as Depression, Anxiety, Suicide, Psychosis, etc. This helps the teachers communicate with the students and help them understand the Mental Health status and the wellbeing of the students. This can help the teachers initially identify vulnerable student and provide them with support as well as direct them towards more professional help.
The other target group of the program are the students of these educational institutes. We arrange large group awareness raising sessions for the students to learn about the common mental health issues. These sessions create a group of self-aware young people who can evaluate their own and their peer’s mental health and guide them towards asking for professional help from their teachers and experts.
Innovation for Wellbeing Foundation has the overall goal to raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing as well as remove the stigma associated to these subjects from society. Therefore, this school mental health program will help create a large group of young population who are aware and educated on mental health helping us take one more step forward towards our goal.
