MHFA Standard Course

MHFA standard course will teach you:

  • Skills in how to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health problems
  • Knowledge of the possible risk factors for these mental health problems
  • Awareness of the evidenced based medical, psychological and alternative treatments available
  • Skills in how to give appropriate initial help and support someone experiencing a mental health problem
  • Skills in how to take appropriate action if a crisis situation arises involving suicidal behavior, panic attack, stress reaction to trauma, overdose or threatening psychotic behavior.

|Session outline:

MHFA standard course is a 12- hour course delivered in two consecutive days and the sessions designed to have interactive participation through storytelling, group work, role play, case study, video show etc.

The two-day mhfa course covers depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal crisis, personality disorder, eating disorder, drug abuse and psychosis.

|Takeaways:

Everyone who attends the course will receive a copy of the MHFA manual and workbook, which are both excellent support resources.

When you have completed the course you will also receive a certificate to confirm that you are a trained Mental Health First Aider.
